There is nothing in the dark that

you cannot see.

Your mind fills it all with gaps

And you make monsters

Just as easily as you breathe.

You are a creature of habit and self-destruction

And while you immolate your brain

You know the logic says there’s nothing

But there is always something

Because you willed it so.

We are all little gods in our own ways

Creating, manifesting, and destroying.

And how divine it is that we make

whole worlds in our minds with

monsters to scare us

and heroes to save us.

And so remember, just remember

The truth is that

you are alone

and the things you see in the dark

are nothing but your gnarled

and evil children

born from the things you don’t want to see

and the things you don’t want to think

but feel still in your chest

and haunt the halls of your mind.
